Investing in Our Workforce
August 12, 2022As we head into our Centennial year of service in 2023, the National Human Services Assembly is increasing our focus on supporting the human service sector in the areas of infrastructure and capacity-building. Specifically, NHSA is convening our members and partners to identify actionable steps to rebuild the sector’s workforce and financial infrastructure through the foundational lenses of racial-equity, diversity and inclusion (REDI); mental well-being; resiliency; and cost-efficient operations. NHSA has already brought together various sector leaders and experts to frame the key elements of a workforce crisis that continues to impact workers of diverse backgrounds disproportionately and negatively. Moreover, we are providing even more options and access to cost savings in operations via PurchasingPoint—ultimately saving more money for mission-driven work.
Going forward, some next steps will include using the collective influence from our network to drive system-level changes leading to fairer compensation, increased diversification of human service leadership, adoption of effective resiliency strategies, and leaner organizational operations. For the remainder of 2022 and into 2023, our goal remains to help foster a healthy, sustainable, and effective system of human service organizations led by knowledgeable, innovative, and fully-supported teams of caring people. Doing so will ultimately result in more vibrant communities. We invite you to join us in these efforts by participating in one of our various peer councils, events, campaigns, or social networks. More information about what “good trouble” NHSA is getting into can be found on our website.
